- What's the difference between Course and Playing Handicap?
- Course Handicap adjusts your Handicap Index for the specific course and tees; Playing Handicap then applies the competition's allowance (e.g. 95% for singles). In casual play they're often the same.
- How is Course Handicap calculated?
- Course Handicap = Handicap Index × (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating − Par), rounded to the nearest whole number.
- Which allowance should I use?
- It depends on the format and your national association. In England, individual stroke play and Stableford use 95% and fourball betterball 85%. Always check your competition's terms.
