FAQ

Questions about Caddyio

Straight answers on cost, what members get, handicaps, booking, switching from another system and who owns the data. Where a question belongs to one feature, the answer sits on that feature’s own page too.

Cost and commitment

What a club pays, what a member pays, and what happens if you leave.

How much does Caddyio cost?

Plans start at £99 a month, charged to the club, with no per-member fees and no setup fee. What a particular club pays depends on courses, members and which tier fits — see the pricing page, or enquire for an exact figure.

Do members ever pay?

No. Members never pay Caddyio anything: no app purchase, no subscription, no ad-supported tier. Some competing member apps are ad-supported with a paid ad-free upgrade; Caddyio members get the full experience free and without advertising because the club is the customer.

Do we get charged more as we sign up members?

No. Pricing is by tier, not by headcount. Each tier has a member ceiling, and passing it moves you up a tier rather than adding per-head fees.

Who owns the club's data?

The club does, and each member owns theirs. Members can export everything the club holds on them, or delete their account, from their own settings without emailing anybody. Each club's data is isolated in the database by row-level security, not just in the application layer.

For members

What playing at a Caddyio club is actually like.

Do members have to install an app?

No. Scoring runs in any phone browser, so a member is entering their first hole in seconds with nothing to download. There is also a native Android member app for players who want background GPS, but it is optional — the browser experience is complete on its own.

Does Caddyio calculate handicaps?

It calculates an indicative Handicap Index under World Handicap System rules, along with playing handicaps, net scores and Stableford points as you play. It is deliberately NOT the official record: your union-connected provider stays the system of record, and Caddyio exports what your handicap secretary needs to submit.

Can members book tee times and practice bays?

Yes. Members book tee times from a live tee sheet and, where the club offers them, driving-range bays and indoor simulators — choosing how long they want the bay and adding buckets of balls to the same booking.

Can a member play at more than one club?

Yes. One member identity travels across Caddyio clubs, with club-approved check-in as a visitor, so a member's rounds and history follow them rather than restarting at each club.

Running the club

Setup, switching, and what staff get.

How long does it take to get a club online?

Most clubs are live in an afternoon. After your walkthrough we help you set up courses, tees and scorecards in the visual editor and invite your members, and you can run your first live tournament the same week.

Can we move from ClubV1, Intelligent Golf, BRS or HandicapMaster?

Yes, and in most cases Caddyio runs alongside rather than replacing everything at once — it is not your union-connected handicap record and it is not your till. The honest, dated comparisons for each of those systems, including what they do better, are on the compare pages.

Does Caddyio replace our EPOS?

No. Caddyio does not do point-of-sale today. Where a club takes money at the counter, it still does. Practice bookings taken at the desk record what they come to but are deliberately not marked paid, precisely because the money went through your till and not through us.

Can we put Caddyio data on our existing website?

Yes. There is a documented REST API and a drop-in JavaScript embed for live leaderboards, tee-time availability, range and simulator availability, and today's course status including greenkeeper notices. Bookings themselves are completed signed-in in the member area.

On the course

The part that happens after the tee time is booked.

What is the clubhouse wallboard?

A big-screen, live satellite view of your own course with players moving on it in real time, doubling as a live leaderboard during competitions. It runs in any browser on a clubhouse TV.

Does scoring work without phone signal?

Yes. Scoring is offline-first: rounds are written locally and synced when reception returns, which matters on the parts of a course where there is none.

Can members report course problems?

Yes. A member reports a condition from the hole they are standing on with a photo and a GPS fix; staff triage it and publish notices back to the round screen — and to the club's own website through the status embed, so it is written once.
