Looking for an Intelligent Golf alternative

Caddyio is a white-label golf club platform used as an alternative to Intelligent Golf, replacing the igMember app with a branded, ad-free member experience on the club's own domain from £99 a month — and it can run alongside Intelligent Golf rather than replacing it.

Intelligent Golf is a capable UK club-admin system, and most clubs looking for an alternative are not unhappy with the admin. They are unhappy that the member app wraps the club website and is being folded into HowDidiDo — the same shared, ad-supported network app as its sister product. This page is about that decision.

Why clubs look for an alternative to Intelligent Golf

The member app is being merged into the network

Intelligent Golf and ClubV1 are the same company — both ClearCourse — and their member apps are consolidating into the shared HowDidiDo app. Whatever branding your members see today, the direction of travel is towards the network owning that relationship rather than your club.

igMember wraps the club website

The member app is largely a wrapper around your website rather than a member product in its own right, which is why it feels dated next to what golfers use elsewhere. Members compare your app to every other app on their phone, not to other golf software.

Nothing happens on the course

Intelligent Golf covers booking, membership, WHS and the back office well. It does not put a live map of your course on the clubhouse wall, track pace of play, take an order from the fairway, or give your professional shot maps of a student's round.

Two ways forward — and one of them isn’t switching

You do not have to replace Intelligent Golf to get any of this. Most clubs start by running Caddyio alongside what they already have.

Route one — replace it

Realistic for clubs using Intelligent Golf mainly for membership, booking and competitions, and not depending on its EPOS, integrated payments or Xero accounting link.

  • Membership, subscriptions and dues become Caddyio's records.
  • Tee sheet, competitions, societies, Orders of Merit and Eclectics move across.
  • Members get a branded, ad-free app on your club's own domain instead of igMember.
  • The on-course layer — GPS wallboard, live scoring, service requests, pace of play, course reporting — comes with it.
  • Handicaps remain indicative and exported for your handicap secretary; the official record does not move.

Route two — keep Intelligent Golf, add Caddyio alongside

The lower-risk path, particularly if your accounting runs through the Xero link or you use the EPOS. Intelligent Golf carries on running the back office; Caddyio supplies the member-facing and on-course layer it was never built for.

  • Put the clubhouse wallboard up first — it changes what the club feels like on a Saturday and touches nothing in your admin system.
  • Run coaching on Caddyio so your professional has students, lesson notes, goals and shot maps in one place.
  • Offer members live scoring and shot tracking on the course while booking stays where it is.
  • Run one competition end to end on Caddyio before deciding anything larger.

When you should stay with Intelligent Golf

If your club leans on its deep back-office admin — EPOS, integrated payments, Xero accounting — that is its home ground and Caddyio does not replicate it. Caddyio has no EPOS and no accounting integration, and its card payments are off by default and enabled on request. If those are load-bearing for your club, replacing Intelligent Golf would cost you more than it gained.

Common questions

What is the best Intelligent Golf alternative?
For clubs whose complaint is the member app, Caddyio is a direct answer: a branded, ad-free member experience on your own domain, plus live scoring, a GPS clubhouse wallboard, coaching and shot tracking, from £99 a month with no per-member fees. For clubs whose complaint is the back office, Intelligent Golf is genuinely strong there and Caddyio does not match its EPOS or accounting integration.
Is Intelligent Golf the same company as ClubV1?
Yes. Both are ClearCourse products, and their member apps are being consolidated into the shared HowDidiDo app. If you are evaluating them as two independent alternatives to each other, they are closer than they appear.
Can we keep Intelligent Golf and still use Caddyio?
Yes. The wallboard, coaching, on-course scoring and individual competitions can each run on Caddyio with Intelligent Golf untouched. That is the usual starting point.
